In the original version of the 21+3 side bet, the payout for any of the above outcomes is 9 to 1, while the house edge is 4.24% in a four-deck game, 3.24% in a six-deck game, and 2.74% in an eight-deck game.
Version 1
Version 1 of 21+3 I noticed at the Las Vegas Hilton in April, 2001. The side bet pays based on the player's first two cards and the dealer's up card. If the three cards equal a flush, straight, straight flush, or three of a kind the side bet pays 9 to 1. The following table shows the probability of each hand in a six-deck game,as played at the Hilton.
Blackjack - also known as 21, or pontoon - is the most popular gambling table game. Blackjack is commonly spread at friendly home games, local charity events and at casino properties worldwide. Regardless of the locale or chosen stakes, the most enjoyable aspect of playing blackjack is getting paid on winning hands. TriLux Introduction TriLux is a blackjack side bet based on the first two player cards and the dealer up card. It is similar to the 21+3 side bet, except adds a fixed bonus for the dealer on any winning hand. 21+3 Insurance – this is the most common Blackjack side bet and allows you to cover yourself against Blackjack if the dealer has an ace face up. This bet involves half of your original stake.

The Caesars Entertainment Blog mentions that the xtreme version of 21+3 can be found in the Party Pit at the Paris casino in Las Vegas. I had to chuckle at their sense of humor with this remark,
'We would calculate the odds of hitting these side bets, but being in Vegas isn't about math, it's about having fun. And just never-you-mind that this is the blog of a casino company. Check out the new Ooh La La Party Pit at Paris Las Vegas the next time you’re in the neighborhood.
Hey, it is about the math everywhere, even in the Party Pit!

I hear ya :-).....I love that 9-1 simple pay table.....overpay on the more frequent hits, under pay on the longshots, makes it unique from the Pair Plus pay table.....just sayin'
Same with House Money.....I played HM at Fiesta back in December with Switch for a $1 min bet.....didn't like it so much. Recently, played HM at Pala, $10 min BJ table with $5 min House Money side bet.....was a much better experience since you win the even money/3-1 payouts most of the time. Capping your bet with an extra $10 or $20 on a J/10 or J/J was a lot more exciting than capping it with an extra $2 or $4 when playing $1.
Players may resist $5 to begin with and then they will see HM hitting 23% of their hands and start to think that it may be worth it. Same when they miss out on the $45 hits on 21+3, even with its sub 10% hit rate.
I think the Non 'dollar and a prayer/High HE' type BJ side bets need to be marketed as $5 min bets to the players....it is how they were designed to be played and provide the best player experience. Dollars are for Lucky Ladies/Kings Bounty & Lucky Lucky, bets with 1000-1 potential pay outs.
Are you sure? Not the customers I saw at Rio - no one bets it.
Glad to hear that.
